Doesnt "refresh" green bubble status, active time

Is anyone else having the problem over about the last week where it doesnt update the status of friends (i.e. the green bubble) or the time they were on last (i.e. last active 20 min ago)? Mine started NOT doing this about a week ago and it is super annoying. The only way to fix it is to restart my phone. Im not sure if there is a glitch in the messenger app or not?
